Mirtha Caves Cappadocia Review

Located on the top of Aydinli Hill overlooking Goreme, Mirtha Caves is a romantic cave hotel that offers unobstructed views from its terraces. Perfect for catching those hot air balloons at sunrise.

It was an interesting experience staying in a Ottoman decorated room built within the soft rock formation and trying to imagine what it must have been like for the early settlers in Cappadocia. Considering we had strong WiFi, a comfortable bed and a hot shower, it’s fair to say that we have things a little easier in this modern age.

There’s several comfortable areas and decorated corners around the hotel’s terraces, which you can lounge on throughout the day and watch the balloons rise at 6am. A traditional Turkish breakfast buffet is included in your stay and Mirtha Cave’s breakfast is not only full of delicious choices, but you’re eating with panoramic views of the area. The hill to walk up and down to Mirtha Caves from the town centre makes you realize how much you’ve overeaten at breakfast.

For an extra fee, you can have a private terrace to yourself at the highest section available at Mirtha Caves. It was such an incredible morning watching the balloons rise over Goreme while getting lots of cuddles from their resident doggo. Mirtha cave is the home to Cappadocia’s famous Instadog – @findiksteam, who is such an adorable dog. @findiksteam is more than happy to sit with you as you pose, and gobble the meat from your platter while you’re not looking.
