Uchisar is the highest point in the area of Cappadocia where there are spectacular views and at The Rox Cappadocia, you can enjoy the panoramic views from their rooftop.
Rox’s rooftop is what the hotel is best known for on Instagram. A terrace that has beautiful outdoor seating and a wicker chair that you can nestle in at sunrise as you watch the hot air balloons rise over Guvercinlik Valley. Breakfast there at Rox Cappadocia was such a treat – cold cuts, cheese upon more cheese, and scrumptious traditional Turkish egg dishes.
The bedrooms and reception are located on the lower level floors. The hotel is built in a renovated old Greek House, though, there was a part of me that found staying at Rox Cappadocia reminiscent of staying in part of a castle.
To stay at Rox Cappadocia is to stay in a real cave. The bedrooms are hollowed out from stone and the tiny cave windows are covered in metal bars. The lack of natural light meant that we had to use a torch for our Instastory room tour.
The room had a four poster bed and there’s a Nespresso machine in each room, which was much appreciated after freezing from waking up at sunrise. The bathroom was nearly the same size as the bedroom.
A word of warning – the caves are real caves and there is a dampness in the air. They do have a humidifier in the room to help minimize the dampness. However, we left our laptop out during the night and the next morning there was a pool of water on the laptop that had dripped down from the ceiling. Thankfully there was no damage done to the laptop, so we can advise with relief rather than bitterness for you to keep all of your electronics safely put away in your bags.
