Santa Caterina Hotel

Situated on the Amalfi Coast close to Amalfi is the stunning Santa Caterina Hotel. The luxury hotel is a one of a kind property perched on the edge of the coastline overlooking the glistening Tyrrhenian Sea.

The hotel is positioned on the main Amalfi Coast road and when we left Positano to move to our next hotel, we simply told our bus driver that we were staying at the Santa Caterina Hotel. He stopped right outside the hotel’s doors, making it a very convenient accommodation for us to get to, which can’t be said for every hotel along the Amalfi Coast.

The hotel is pristine and boasts impeccable beauty both inside and out. There are several private suites of different designs that you can stay in on the grounds of the 5 star Santa Caterina Hotel or you can stay in a room at the hotel itself. We stayed in the Junior Suite room, which was very spacious as it came with its own living room.

The bathroom was charmingly beautiful as it was lined with the colourful hand-painted majolica floor tiles the region is renowned for, which we would love to have in our own home.

In the evening we enjoyed a bottle of wine on our own private balcony before heading in to Amalfi for dinner.

The town of Amalfi is a pleasant 10 minute walk along the coastline, however, you don’t need to walk as the hotel offers a frequent complementary shuttle service that goes every 30 minutes and brings you directly to the Amalfi harbour.

We decided to head out for dinner both nights that we were there but the hotel offers fine-dining experiences and if their dinner options are anything like their continental breakfast spread then it really would be worth considering. Their buffet breakfast had practically everything you could think of. Gourmet cheeses, hot food, sparkling wine if you wanted early morning bubbles, and even scoops of Italian ice cream was on offer, all of which you could have while enjoying panoramic sea views from either inside or outside.

The Santa Caterina Hotel has a stunning swimming pool that is situated right on top of the sea with a decking made of rock. You can reach the pool by either taking the elevator down from the hotel to sea level, or you can take a stroll through their lemon gardens. Basking by the hotel’s rock pool on the sea really gives an amazing summer feel and you could easily spend several hours lounging there.

The hotel faces sunset, which you can take in from any of the hotel’s terraces or from their lush gardens than you can meander through hand in hand with your partner. Everything about our stay felt very private and luxurious and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Santa Caterina Hotel as we continued exploring the beauty of the Amalfi Coast.
